I have been saving coffee bags for about half a year now. Why you might ask? Well I have this idea that I want to make something like a bag out of them. I have collected some quite nice colours, but I need some inspiration on what to do with them all.

So I am going to ask you all for your help. Do you have any ideas? Have you given this a try yourself? Please, please comment and let me know and do feel free to include a link to your own or others projects and tutorials. As before I will include them as an inspiration list at the end of the post. I have also make a Pinterest board with some of the ideas. As and when I collect ideas I will post them here on my Refashion ideas board.

Here are some of my ideas so far:
- How to turn a coffee bag into a hanging planter by Olyveoil (Instructables) – have a look at this one pinned by Sara Myers on Pinterest.
- Tutorial on weaving a bag by Når Genbrug Bliver Guld (the site is in Danish but has really good images)
- Tutorial on weaving a basket by Når Genbrug Bliver Guld (the site is in Danish but has really good images)

Whether you have come here to have a look at John's illustrations or Eddie's design projects, welcome to Grey Duckling!

Hej Jette,
Mange tak for tippet. Jeg var lige over og snuse til siden og blev hurtigt fanget. Den er røget direkte i min RSS reader.
Jeg har også lagt din blog over i min RSS reader.

Here in Portugal many people have made handbags out of coffee bags and they have been quite popoular.

Thanks for the idea – I shall consider a bag or some sorts. Then it will become the coffee bag bag

I often look at my coffee bags and see some have a recycle symbol but I don’t understand which recycle box they go into. What a great idea to save them. Have you tried sewing one to see how it takes? You could make little purses. I am scratching my head to remeber where I saw a wallet tutorial from plastic bags. When I remember I will send the link. Note book covers? Cut into strips and woven? Oxfam and the ethicalsuperstore.com both sell rucksacks, lunchbags, purses made from juice cartons by a women’s collective in the Phillipines called Doy Bags, link here: http://www.ethicalsuperstore.com/products/doy/. Your coffee bags could work in this style….

Thanks Debbie,
I think it\’s the same with a lot of things. They say they can be recycled but not how. At the moment I have a used water filter standing in my window, which I have no idea how to recycle – I will probably just end up throwing it away.
As I mentioned in the above comment I am thinking of making a shopping bag as I can never get enough of those. Also I thing the coffee bags will be heavy duty enough for this. But I also promised my mother a little purse, so if you find that tutorial – please to let me know.
Take care,
Eddie
